Minister of the Interior Constantinos Ioannou said on Monday that the measures taken by the state to address the immigration problem have had a positive outcome so far.
Replying to questions by journalists before the regional meeting with the Chairpersons of the Community Councils of the Pafos District, Ioannou pointed out that immigration is an issue that can change from one day to the next.
So far, he added, "it seems that the measures yield results, but since we also depend on external factors, we will wait the next days or weeks to see what will happen."
However, he pointed out that so far the results are positive.
"We see a significant reduction in arrivals" he said.
Regarding returns, the Minister said that they continue at the same pace noting that last month more than 1,000 people have returned to their countries.
Ioannou said that they are waiting information regarding the issue with Lebanon "so everything is being evaluated", he concluded.
