The Milk Industry Organisation yesterday endorsed the new retail prices for cow’s milk, as already approved by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Tourism. Milk retail prices will go up by 9.75% to 45 cents per litre, 4 cents higher than the current price of 41 cents per litre.
The price of pasteurised milk sold to dairy industries has also increased to 24.8 cents per litre and milk sold for cheese-making and other purposes has risen to 18.9 cents.
Labour unions SEK and PEO reacted to the increase of prices stating that the Prices Commission has not been consulted. The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Tourism will be holding a meeting with the Prices Commission today concerning the matter.
