Within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Marfin Laiki Bank has agreed with the Cyprus Tennis Federation (CTF) to sponsor the Cypriot national tennis teams, for all categories, throughout 2012. Consequently, Marfin Laiki Bank will be the official sponsor of the national tennis teams of Cyprus for all categories.
As is well known, Marfin Laiki Bank, through a number of significant and notable actions and sponsorships, has created a tradition in contributing towards the development of tennis in Cyprus. Through a series of initiatives, with the most significant being that of the annual tennis championship, in memory of Natia Iacovou, at the grounds of The Sporting Club of Marfin Laiki Bank, which aims not only to promote this particular sport but also the cultivation of the athletic spirit and fairplay, especially between children and youth.
By sponsoring the national tennis teams of Cyprus, the Bank supports the efforts of the Cyprus Tennis Federation for the further establishment of tennis in Cyprus and the enrichment of the Bank’s actions in the context of its Corporate Social Responsibility, thus confirming once again that Marfin Laiki Bank is «more than a Bank».
In his statement on the occasion of the announcement of the sponsorship, CTF President Philios Christodoulou expressed his gratitude for the Bank’s decision, which he described as an upgrade of its contribution to Cyprus tennis.
On behalf of Marfin Laiki Bank, the Group Corporate Affairs & Communication Division Director Loucas Christofides, assured that the Bank’s contribution to Cyprus athletics is a strategic direction aimed primarily for youths and that the decision to sponsor the national tennis teams constitutes yet another indication of real interest in and support of Cyprus tennis and to CTF’s continuous efforts for the further development of this sport.
