Marfin Laiki Bank, International Business Banking and Wealth Management Divisions, were the main sponsors of the “Global Investments and International Taxation” conference, organised by Globalserve Consultants Ltd on 24th of February in Tel Aviv, Israel, with the support of the Israeli accounting firm B. M. Certified Public Accountants.
The objective of the conference was to highlight new investment opportunities emerging internationally for the innovative and creative investor, in connection with the current effective tax structures and up-to-date solutions. Participants consisted of business consultants, accountants and auditors, lawyers, trust and wealth asset management companies.
Mr. Miltos Michaelas, Director of International Business Banking, Marfin Laiki Bank, presented and discussed the stability of the banking system in Cyprus and the position of Cyprus as a reliable and attractive financial centre. He also informed the participants of the successful rights issue that took place at the beginning of 2011 and the Bank/s expansion to China, via the establishment of a representative office in Beijing. Thus, Marfin Laiki Bank becomes the first Bank in Cyprus or Greece to set up a banking presence in China.
Mr Kyriacos Michaelides, Director - Wealth Management, Marfin Laiki Bank, presented the personalised financial services for high-net-worth individuals analysing the philosophy of private banking: to provide integrated management solutions through a full range of personal financial services. Furthermore, other effective structures were proposed for investments in the new emerging markets of China and India.

The position of Cyprus as a reputable international business centre was emphasized with special reference to the robust and efficient Cyprus banking sector.
