On the occasion of the signing of the Agreements for the Programmes funded under the European Economic Area (EEA) / Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2009-2014, the University of Cyprus, the Planning Bureau and the Royal Embassy of Norway organise a lecture, open to the public, to be offered by Martin Skancke, Founder and CEO of Skancke Consulting. During the lecture, experiences in management of petroleum revenues and how they affect economic policies will be discussed. In particular, the use of a petroleum fund to manage revenues will be addressed, and issues relating to organization and management of such funds will be discussed based on experiences from Norway and other countries.
The lecture entitled Managing Petroleum Wealth – Lessons and Experiences will take place on the 5th of December at the Main Auditorium Hall of the University of Cyprus (Kallipoleos 75 Avenue) at 18:30. Martin Skancke is an independent consultant specializing in advising Sovereign Wealth Funds on investment and governance issues and special advisor to the Storebrand group. He was Director General and head of the Asset Management Department of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance from 2006 to 2011, with responsibility for setting the strategy and overseeing the operations of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund. From 2002 to 2006 he was Director General and head of the Domestic Policy Department of the Office of the Prime Minister. He has previously been head of the section for monetary policy and fiscal affairs at the Ministry of Finance and a consultant at McKinsey & Co. Martin Skancke/s lecture will provide valuable lessons and insights in terms of better management of the natural resources discovered in Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, taking into consideration the geopolitical and financial challenges we are now facing.
Simultaneous interpretation from Greek to English and vice versa will be provided.
