M. Neophytou first in construction works

The biggest construction work included in the budget 2009 was assigned to Miltiades Neophytou. An internal memo of the Transport Ministry released by StockWatch today shows the distribution of the construction works of the Pubic Works Department to several contractive companies and the provisions of the contracts that were signed.
Of the nine construction works in the budget, the biggest is that of the construction of the new Head Office of the Urban Planning Department of €26.25 million. The contract was signed on November 12, 2008 and works will last up to 30 months (including maintenance for 15 years).
The company also undertook the biggest of this year’s road works, off GSP interchange, against the sum of €21.5 million.
Lakis Georgiou Constructions undertook the first phase of the new police department in Paphos and includes the construction of the central police station of €5.99 million. The project will be completed in 18 months.
Another big project is that of the lockups in the police station of Lakatamia for which there is a contract with A. Panayides Public for the period of 15 months. Its cost stands at €5.04 million.
The cost for the construction of new storages in the Police Headquarters reaches €2.97 million. The project has been assigned to P.A CYTECO in December 2008 with the commitment to be delivered in 9 months. There is also a provision for the maintenance of the project after 2010.
Iacovou Bros have undertaken the construction of the Oncology Ward in the new Nicosia hospital. The contract was signed on 8/8/2009 and its completion is estimated in 42 weeks. The cost stands at €1.18 million.
Lois Builders signed a contract of €0.84 million for the expansion of the emergency ward in Limassol Hospital on condition that the project will be completed in 8 months.
Eltra Construction signed a contract on 9/12/2008 for the improvement and maintenance of the parking space at the Nicosia Conference Center. According to the contract, the cost is estimated at €0.61 million and must be delivered in 10 months.
Two smaller projects, the Oroklini Fire Brigade of €0.61 million and the expansion of the haemolysis ward of the new Limassol hospital of 0.37 million have been assigned to S. Hadjichristofi Construction and Α. Panayides Contracting Public respectively. The first was signed on 20/2/2009 (12 months) and the second on 6/7/2009 (8 months).
However, the signing of three more big projects of €30 million is still pending. Those projects include the Presidency 2012 building (€16.7m), the Air Operations Unit at the Larnaca Airport (€12.7m) and the expansion of the open jail (€1.5m).
The tender for the first phase of the immigrants building in Menogeia will be published in October. The project will cost around €10 million. The tender for the second phase will be released in August 2010 and will cost €20 million.
