Cyprus Minister of Justice and Public Order Anna Koukkides Prokopiou participates in the Informal Council of Justice and Home Affairs of the European Union which is held on July 20 and 21 in Logrono, Spain.
According to an announcement by the Ministry the agenda includes issues related to Justice, Public Order and Human Rights, which fall under the Ministry's responsibilities.
Justice Ministers will discuss the need to safeguard equal access to justice for all citizens with an emphasis on people with disabilities. In relation to Public Order, the agenda includes the fight against organized crime and especially drug-related crime which requires the strengthening of international cooperation and enhanced joint actions.
The Ministers will discuss the need to adapt legislation at a European level to allow access to law enforcement authorities and the necessary electronic data to solve crimes and to monitor the transfer of profits from illegal activities through cryptocurrencies.
In the context of Human Rights, there will be an exchange of views with the aim of strengthening the protection and support of crime victims at a European level.
The Minister returns to Cyprus on Saturday.
