Born on the island of Kos, Greece, on March 21, 1957, Ioannis Sarmas, 66, embarked on his educational journey by obtaining a Degree in Law from the University of Athens, graduating in 1979. He furthered his studies in France, earning Diplômes d’études approfondies (Diplomas of Further Studies) from the University of Paris II in Criminal Law (1980-1981), Public Law (1982-1983), and Public Finance (1983-1985). During this period, he also completed his Doctoral Thesis in Law, which he successfully defended and was awarded the distinction of très honorable.
