Promoting Cyprus as an attractive investment and business destination and a gateway to the European Union was the main objective of the national Investment Promotion Authority’s (Invest Cyprus) participation at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) 2024 which took place from May 7th until May 9th in Abu Dhabi. After that, Invest Cyprus continued its mission with a visit to Kuwait.
According to a press release issued by Invest Cyprus, the AIM is considered a leading event for the investment sector as it attracts significant international investors and offers a platform for discussing direct foreign investment trends and opportunities. As it is noted, Invest Cyprus’s participation in the AIM is a key to promoting Cyprus as a reliable investment destination with a stable business environment and a favourable tax system.
As noted, Marios Tannousis, CEO of Invest Cyprus, held a series of high-profile business meetings, working closely with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Arab Emirates, Meropi Christofi, the Commercial Counsellor of the Cyprus Trade Centre in Dubai, George Partasides, and their respective teams. The meetings were focused on promoting investment opportunities in Cyprus and enhancing relations with Middle Eastern companies wishing to expand their operations to the EU.
A meeting with the Prime Minister of Kuwait
Invest Cyprus continued its mission with a visit to Kuwait, where Tannousis was honoured to be welcomed by the country’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, as a member of the administrative committee of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
The CEO of WAIPA, Ismail Ersahin and the Director of Investment and Enterprise at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), James Zhan, were also present at the meeting, which focused on investment opportunities and direct foreign investment challenges, as well as on the roadmap for attracting more investments to the area.
The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) is a global event and an initiative of the UAE Ministry of Economy designed to provide a framework for global exchange on the key principles underpinning international investment policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development to achieve smart and inclusive global growth.
As noted, Invest Cyprus’s successful participation in AIM 2024 has significantly contributed to amplifying Cyprus’s image as an international investment centre and attracting new investments that will create job opportunities and enhance the Cypriot economy.
