Increased vehicle registration first trimester of 2002

The Statistical Service CYSTAT announced that it has issued the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period January-March 2002.
The main developments in the first three months of 2002 compared to the same period of 2001, were:
(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles during the first three months of 2002 increased by 29,3% to 10.503 from 8.122 vehicles in the same period of 2001.
(b) Private saloon cars increased to 6.510 from 4.702 in January-March 2001, i.e. there was an increase of 38,5%. Of the total private saloon cars 1.905 vehicles or 29,3% were new and 4.605 vehicles or 70,7% were used vehicles.
(c) Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 13,4% to 2.209 from last year’s 1.948 vehicles. Light goods vehicles increased by 12,9% to 1.993 and heavy goods vehicles increased by 18,0% to 216 in January-March 2002.
(d) Mechanised cycles remained at the same level and totalled 754 compared to 758 in January-March 2001.
