The House plenary is expected to reject the referral of the law which suspends the foreclosures of the trapped owners until the end of the year.
The parliament is expected to suspend foreclosures for this category of property owners until September 5 while on September 3 the plenary will reconvene to discuss the bill for the protection of trapped owners.
Also, the legal service will be called to complete the legal vetting of the relevant regulations that are directly related to the bill.
Interior Minister, Socrates Hasikos stressed the need to approve the bill for the trapped property owners from the land developers.
Speaking at a joint session of the House Finance and Interior Committees which examine the referral of the law with which the foreclosures of the entrapped owners are suspended until the end of the year, he indicated that the relevant bill is before the parliament and the government, he said, tried to achieve to the fullest extent the free up of properties and land.
Mr. Hasikos noted that there will be a problem with the memorandum, stressing that the relevant bill, which should have been voted yesterday, is one of the prerequisites for the release of the next tranche.
At the same time, he called on the parliament to pass the bill in the form of urgent, adding that “we must be right with the Memorandum and we should not lead the country to adventures for a subject that we all agree”.
Answering to questions by MPs, he noted that there will be no problem with the Memorandum if the bill passes before September 5.
The MPs, although agreeing in protecting the trapped property owners, have reservations which, as the minister said, are resolved through regulations that are before the legal service.
