The House Audit Committee asked officially by Eurocypria to be informed on its financial results for 2008, 2009 and the first half of 2010.

Few days after the government’s decision for the merger of the two national carriers, Chairman of the Audit Committee, Giorgos Georgiou believes that more information on the course of Eurocypria is necessary.

According to an official announcement of Cyprus Airways to the CSE, they recorded losses of €25 million in the first half. Eurocupria is not a listed company and the Parliament is not aware of its results, although it agreed with its financial support with capital of €35 million in February.

Therefore, Mr. Georgiou sent a letter to Finance Minister, Charilaos Stavrakis, asking for the submission of the company’s financial results for 2008, 2009 and the first half of 2010 the soonest possible.

“The submission of those figures is necessary for parliamentary audit purposes”, he concluded.
