The unexpected development in the signing of the agreement of the union contract a short while ago, has caused a new stir in the hotel industry. PASIXE (Hotel Owners’ Association) refused to attend the final part of the signing at the Labour Ministry, protesting against STEK’s participation (other Hotel Owners’ Association) in the signing of the agreement. PASIXE refused to discuss STEK’s participation in the management of the Provident and Welfare Funds of the hotel employees.
This development has forced the Labour Minister to postpone the signing of the union contract, while the trade unions have warned that they will proceed to new strike measures on Tuesday morning.
It is noted that SEK (Cyprus Workers’ Confederation) and PEO (Pancyprian Working Confederation) will have a press conference at 6 pm on Monday to announce the latest developments in the hotel sector.
