The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices rose by 2.2% between August 2023 and August 2024, and increased by 0.9% in the month between July 2024 and August 2024, with the largest increase noted in Services, according to data published by the Statistical Service on Wednesday. For the period January – August 2024, the HICP rose by 2.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Compared to August 2023, the largest increases were noted in Recreation and Culture (74%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.6%).
Compared to July 2024, the largest increases were recorded in categories Restaurants and Hotels (2.1%), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (1.7%) and Transport (1.5%).
For the period January - August 2024, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest increases was noted in Restaurants and Hotels (5.6%).
As regards the economic origin, the largest increase, both when compared to the index of August 2023 (4.2%) as well as when compared to the index of the previous month (1.8%), was recorded in category Services.
