Harmonised inflation at 2.4% in November

Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in Cyprus amounted to 2.4% year on year in November, marking a moderate deceleration from October’s 3.6%, data released Tuesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) show.

According to Cystat, compared with the October 2023, the Harmonised Inflation marked a decrease of 1.5%, whereas for the period January – November 2023, the HICP rose by 4.1% compared to the respective period of last year.

Compared with November 2022, the biggest change in goods and services was recorded in the category of Restaurants and Hotels with 7.1%, while housing, water supply, electricity, gas and other fuels rose by an annual 2.5%. Transport and Communication declined by an annual 2.6% and 1.5% respectively.

In comparison with October 2023, the category of transport declined by 4.5% followed by housing, water supply, electricity and gas declined by 1.9%

For the period of January – November 2023 the largest annual changes were registered in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages with 8.4% and Restaurants and Hotels with 6.5%, Cystat added.
