Almost half a million passengers are expected to use the international airports of Larnaca and Paphos for their transportation from August 10 to 23, with 2,900 flights expected to take place during the peak of the summer holiday season.

According to Hermes Airports Spokesman Adamos Aspris, during this period, passenger traffic in the country`s two international airports is reaching its peak for this year.

It is estimated that within these two weeks, more than 2,180 flights will take place in Larnaca airport, transporting over 350,000 passengers from and to Cyprus, Aspris said.

He added that during the same period, Paphos airport will host around 720 flights, with 130,000 passengers.

The airports` Spokesman said that Cypriot passengers prefer Greece as their favorite holiday destination.

Preferred outbound tourism destinations that top the list include Chania, Santorini, Mykonos, Kavala, Skiathos, Preveza, Rhodes and Corfu, he noted.

Moreover, he said that passenger traffic marks an increase of 3.2% since the start of the year, a result of coordinated efforts, while everyone`s goal is to further strengthen tourism flow to Cyprus.
