The month-long series of strikes that has disrupted services in Greece continued Monday with work stoppages at state hospitals, archaeological sites and courts.
Other public sector workers, including educators have announced strikes in November in an effort to win concessions from the beleaguered Socialist government that faces national elections in the spring.
Surgeries and outpatient clinics at state hospitals in greater Athens will remain closed until Wednesday and will expand to a nationwide strike Thursday and Friday to demand higher pay.
Striking contract workers at the culture ministry will keep the Acropolis and other ancient monuments off limits to tourists through Wednesday. The workers want permanent status.
Most court cases will be rescheduled beginning Wednesday as court employees stay off the job for three days demanding higher wages and better benefits.
One exception is the trial of 19 suspected members of the November 17 group, the Marxist-nationalist organization blamed for 23 slayings and more than 100 bombings and other attacks since 1975.
