Greece's current account deficit widened to EUR5.02 billion in the nine months to September, from EUR4.54 billion a year earlier, the central bank said Monday.
In September alone, the current account showed a deficit of EUR289.2 million, reflecting "an increase in the oil deficit and a small decrease in the services surplus," the bank said. The current account deficit totaled EUR204.3 million in September 2002.
The trade balance was little changed at a deficit of EUR16.69 billion compared with EUR16.61 billion a year earlier.
