Tourism in Greece is riding high and expecting a second straight record year in 2024 but fears about competition because of added accommodation fees and other charges has the sector anxious that there could be a slide.
A Ministry of Finance bill will add charges to take advantage of the soaring number of visitors – more than 31 million in 2023 that could be surpassed – but hoteliers and other tourism businesses worry about the golden goose being killed.
