Greece’s 2010-18 economic and austerity crisis that targeted workers, pensioners and the poor also propelled a further plummeting of home ownership that was among Europe’s highest, with home prices now out of reach for many.

Figures from the statistics agency ELSTAR and the European Union’s Eurostat found that there was an 11.3 percent drop from 2005-21, from 84.6 percent to 73.3 percent in home ownership, now getting worse with shortages.
