Commerce Minister, Antonis Paschalides did not exclude the possibility of a decree for a ceiling in fuel prices.
“The Ministry will take more drastic measures if this is deemed necessary”, he stated, invited to comment on the fact that one in two gas stations in Limassol do not comply with the companies’ remarks for a drop in the fuel prices.
Referring to the measures that the Ministry has taken so far to eliminate profiteering, the Minister said that some gas station owners were forced to withdraw because they could not comply.
As for the new higher fuel prices, Mr. Paschalides said that according to preliminary data, it seems that the companies have bought in higher prices, however, none of them is expected to push prices up before it consults with the Ministry.
The Minister’s statements were made at the Commerce Ministry after the press conference on the results of the Companies’ Superintendent’s Office.
