Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos has praised the role of the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus and its contribution to the management of the state's resources in a responsible and effective manner.
The Minister was addressing the 10th annual conference of the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus, entitled “The Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus in the new age”.
Addressing the management and staff, the Minister praised the role and contribution of the Treasury of the Republic in promoting the sound management of public resources, pointing out that "this role is not only recognized and pursued by the Government itself, but also applauded". He also reiterated his long-standing support for the reform program implemented by the Treasury.
Keravnos referred to the progress of the Cypriot economy in the difficult international environment and said that the unquestionable proof of the prudent fiscal policy implemented by the government, but also of the effort made by all state agencies, is the fact that the Cypriot economy has presented strong economic performance, better than the Euro area average.
He added that the positive results were achieved with the collective effort of all the local financial actors and that we must do our utmost to preserve them.
According to a press release by the Treasury, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nikodimos Damianos also addressed the conference, analyzing the actions of the Deputy Ministry for the utilisation of state-of-the-art technologies in the public sector.
Deputy Minister of European Affairs, Marilena Raouna referred in her online address to Cyprus' upcoming EU Presidency in 2026, saying that Cyprus, using all the knowledge and experience of the past 20 years, since its accession to the EU, has the opportunity to prove that the value of a member state is not determined by its square kilometers, but by its role, expertise and ability to make a meaningful contribution to European decisions.
Addressing the staff, Accountant General of the Republic, Andreas Antoniades, said that the vision but also the common goal, is that the Treasury becomes a model for an innovative, reliable and efficient public organisation that contributes to accountability and decision-making in the public sector.
