President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will visit on Friday the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, in the coastal town of Larnaka, European Commission Chief Spokesperson Eric Mamer has said.
Mamer announced that von der Leyen will be in Cyprus Thursday evening and Friday where she will have a meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia.
Von der Leyen will also travel to the port of Larnaka where she will visit the Search and Rescue Centre, "in the framework of the opening of a maritime humanitarian corridor to Gaza."
A press conference will follow.
The President of the European Commission will be Wednesday and Thursday in Bucharest to attend the meeting of the European People's Party. On Thursday her candidacy on behalf of the party for a second term in the Presidency of the Commission will be officially ratified.
