According to Eurostat data released on Friday, services generated a turnover of EUR 11 974 billion. The highest contribution of the turnover in the sector was observed in the United Kingdom (€2254.1 billion).
Services were the main activity of 14.5 million enterprises, which employed 76 million persons.
In Cyprus, the turnover of the sector in 2005 stood at €14.6 billion with the number of employers reaching 135.4 thousand. The island’s enterprises in the sector of services totalled 31.7 thousand.
