Cyprus managed to double its fund by the European Council for infrastructure projects in the sector of energy.
According to CyBC from Brussels, Cyprus managed to double the specific fund from €5 million to €10 million.
As for the climate changes, President of the Republic, Demetris Christofias said that Cyprus is the first country to submit certain proposals on the issue so that the EU follows a specific policy to deal with the climate changes and its repercussions.
Mr. Christofias used Cyprus as an example, which might need €1 billion so as to be able to prepare a plan against draught.
However, Mr. Christofias noted that this year’s rainfalls do not stress the need to import water at the current stage.
