The Cyprus Electricity Authority trade unions criticized strongly the Commerce Minister for “promoting certain interests with regard to the transfer of natural gas”. They also warned Mr. Michaelides that they are ready to react if he does not promote the overland unit.
The new criticisms followed the Commerce Minister’s letter to EAC Chairman, Charilaos Stavrakis, according to which the Board of Directors of the authority does not inform the trade unions on the Council of Ministers’ decision for the transfer of natural gas.
“We take this letter as an attempt to create a dispute between the Board of Directors and the employees of EAC” EPOPAI Chairman, Andreas Panorkos stated at a press conference held after the meeting of the coordinative committee of the trade unions.
According to Mr. Panorkos, the trade unions believe that Mr. Michaelides obstructs and his actions favour certain private companies.
Mr. Panorkos also said that the employees will take all necessary measures to convince Mr. Micahelides to “turn to the right direction”. “If not, the trade unions have decided to react strongly”, he concluded.
