Dr Christodoulos Patsalides has been appointed as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) and assumes his duties on April 11th.
"The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, exercising his constitutional powers, has decided to appoint Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides as Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus" a statement issued by the Presidency says.
Dr. Patsalides is an economist and holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, University of London (1989). He was appointed in March 2023 by the President of the Republic as his Special Adviser on Economics.
"With extensive experience in senior positions in the banking sector, he worked at the Central Bank of Cyprus and continued his career in the private sector, while in 2018-2019 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Cyprus Banks", according to the Presidency. He left the private sector in October 2020, and has since provided advisory services in Cyprus and abroad in the areas of banking and insurance, fund management, and financial technology.
The President thanked the outgoing Governor, Constantinos Herodotou for their cooperation and for the services he provided "at a critical time for the country's economy", according to the Presidency's statement.
