Seven hundred and eight (708) claims of €4.1 million were submitted by the end of September 2009 to the insurance companies of general sector in relation to the damages from the recent disaster in Nicosia municipality.
According to an announcement of the Cyprus Insurance Companies Association, a total 229 claims concerned damages on cars (€402.8 thousand), 474 claims concerned damages on properties (€3.5m) and 5 more claims were for various damages (€157.5 thousand).
The Association would like to ensure the public that it makes every effort possible to evaluate the damages on time and to settle the claims fast. Therefore, the companies have adopted practices followed in all developed markets to deal with extraordinary situations.
After the latest disaster, which was loss-making for many citizens who did not have an insurance coverage, the Association appeals for precautionary actions against the dangers.
