Nicodemos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, departs for Brussels on Monday to take part in the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Telecommunications), that will be held on Tuesday.
An official press release said that during the meeting the Ministers for telecommunications will hold a policy debate on the need for a collaborative approach for consistent implementation of the recently adopted legislation in the digital field.
The Council will also approve conclusions on the future of EU’s digital policy and on the future of cybersecurity. Over an informal lunch, ministers will discuss the subject of promoting digital skills for an inclusive digital transformation and inclusion. Finally, as an item without discussion, the Council is expected to adopt the artificial intelligence act.
On Thursday, May 23rd, the Deputy Minister will participate in a Competitiveness Council (Space, research and innovation). Ministers are expected to approve Council conclusions on “Strengthening Europe’s competitiveness through space” that will be discussed with the rest of European Space Agency (ESA) member states ministers in the following EU-ESA Space Council.
They will also hold an orientation debate on the incoming space law, that the Commission is expected to adopt soon, focusing on security, resilience, and sustainability.
The Minister returns home later on Thursday.
