Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis has officially announced the country’s candidacy for election to the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Council (Category C) for the 2026-2027 period.

The announcement was made during a reception at the IMO headquarters in London on Wednesday evening.

“Our candidacy reflects our lasting commitment to serving the Organisation, its members and international shipping, as we have been doing since 1987 when we were first elected to the IMO Council,” Minister Hadjimanolis told the Cyprus News Agency.

“We are looking forward to our global partners’ support once more and we are confident that we can continue to collaborate in dealing with the challenges facing the shipping sector today and in charting a sustainable route for the future,” she added.
