The House Transport Committee dealt with the four big road and construction projects that are in progress in Larnaca.
According to Mayor Andreas Moiseos, there have been several delays, especially in relation to the construction of the 3rd and 4th phase of Larnaca – Dekeleia Road.
As the CNA reports, Mr. Moiseos said that the connection of Makenzi with Spyro in Meneou has stuck due to reactions by governmental departments. Also several decisions have been taken for the improvement of the road network near Vergina High School by the Education Ministry and the Larnaca City Council for the construction of projects for Georgiou Christodoulidi Avenue.
On the question about the reasons for this delay, the Mayor said that the difficulties for the Larnaca – Dekeleia Road are linked to the dissolution of the Company that had undertaken the preparation of the drafts.
According to Chairman of the Committee, Zacharias Koulias, this road was meant to have four lanes but the lane is only one and reminded that the plans had changed that’s why there is a delay. “I have been ensured that the procedures will be hastened”, he noted.
For the connection of Makenzi – Meneou Road, Mr. Koulias said that someone must cover 20 kilometers although he can cover 600 meters in a minute.
“The reactions are excessive. The excuse is that it will cost £200 million”, he concluded.
