Cyprus President in Lebanon on Monday to discuss increased arrivals of migrants

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to Lebanon on Monday to discuss the increased arrivals of migrants. He said once more that the situation is difficult but assured that “we will deal with it”.

The past few days hundreds of migrants mostly Syrians arrived to Cyprus from Lebanon and authorities are seeking solutions with the EU to tackle the issue.

The President, who was asked by the press to reveal what Cyprus is asking the EU to do, replied that he is "meeting with the European Commission President on Sunday." He added that authorities in Cyprus are in contact with the EC on a technical level.

President Christodoulides said that in Lebanon he will meet with the interim government and "will be accompanied my Ministers of Interior, Foreign Affairs, the Chief of the National Guard and other officials". He also recalled that he spoke on the phone with the Lebanese Premier recently.

He said that Cyprus is faced with a crisis but added that authorities are doing everything possible to manage it and assured that they would "deal with it".
