Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides will participate in the Meeting of European Political Community Budapest on Thursday.
On Friday he will participate in an informal European Council, with the future of European competitiveness as the main topic of discussion.
President Christodoulides, who is traveling to Budapest today for the 5th leaders' Meeting of the European Political Community and the informal European Council, is accompanied by the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesperson and officials.
According to a written statement by Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou, in addition to the heads of state of the European Political Community, the heads of the EU, NATO, OSCE and the Council of Europe are also expected to participate in the meeting.
Among other things, participants will discuss Europe’s economic security, as well as the issue of migration, which President Christodoulides will address in his speech.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the President of the Republic is to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state or government.
Tonight, the President of the Republic will attend a dinner of the leaders of the EU member states, within the framework of the informal European Council, which will be held in the premises of the Hungarian Parliament.
The main topic of discussion at the leaders’ dinner will be EU-US relations, regional developments and the situation in the Middle East.
An informal European Council will be held on Friday, with the future of European competitiveness, based on the Letta and Draghi reports, as main topic of discussion.
The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus on Friday evening.
