During his meeting with the Israeli Ambassador in Cyprus, Zvi Cohen-Litant on Friday, CTO Chairman, Fotis Fotiou emphasized the importance that the tourist market of Israel has for the island.

According to a CTO announcement, Mr. Fotiou referred to the Organization’s acts for the promotion of Cyprus to Israel, such as the participation in the Tel-Aviv tourist fair, the special presentations, the hospitality of tour operators and journalists and the organization of joint events.

“Mr. Fotiou and Zvi Cohen-Litant had talks on the closer cooperation between the two countries in tourism since Cyprus offers significant opportunities in the sector of cruises. The two parties also discussed the strengthening of tourism between the two countries due to the short distance. In the past two years, there is an upward trend in the tourist arrivals from Israel; In 2005, 41 thousand Israelis visited Cyprus for holidays and 83 thousand for a one-day visit (cruises or professional reasons)”, the announcement reported.

“Mr. Zvi Cohen-Litant was exceptionally interested in the closer tourist cooperation between the two states”, the announcement said.

The meeting was attended by the former Secretary of the Isreli Embassy, Revital Malka, the CTO Deputy General Manager, Lefkos Filaktidis and the two Tourism managers, Phoebe Katsouri and Michalis Metaxas.
