The smooth conduct of the air link between Cyprus and Egypt has not been affected following the latest developments in the neighbouring country, spokesman of Cyprus Airports Adamos Aspris told the CNA, adding that there is no need at the current stage to provide facilities to air companies executing flights to and from Cairo.
Asked by CNA to comment on the situation, he said that "up to this time the smooth operation of services connecting Cyprus with Cairo have not been affected. For today there is one scheduled arrival and one departure in late afternoon. Based on the information of Hermes Operations Centre, both flights will be executed normally”.
On another question, Mr. Aspris said that "the autorities of Larnaca International Airport have been sounded from airlines flying to and from Cairo, to provide facilities in the aircrafts and their crews, if deemed necessary due to the unstable situation in Egypt. However, there was no need so far”.
“We are watching closely the developments in the neighbouring country and we are in constant contact with all relevant departments and agencies”, he concluded.
