The airports in Cyprus are not affected by the technical problems caused due to a software linked to Microsoft, which has resulted to major problems for banks, airlines, media and other public services, although airlines say flights may be affected due to the global problems.

CNA has learnt that the airports of Cyprus are not affected by the technical problems faced by several international airlines, due to the software connected to Microsoft. However, according to the same sources, there may be some delays in the arrivals of aircraft, not due to problems at Cyprus airports, but due to changes in the flight schedule of airlines in other countries affected by the technical problems.

AEGEAN airlines said in a statement that due to the problems with an antivirus system provider, there are problems in air transport worldwide, "but without significantly affecting our own operation". However, it adds due to the problems that have been caused throughout the global chain and support systems, "some services on our website have been affected, while our flights to airports whose operations have been affected may also be affected. Our passengers can be informed from all the company's official channels".

Ryanair said that "we are currently experiencing disruption in the whole network due to a global IT system outage "which is not under our control. We recommend that all passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time."

Wizz Air also issued a press release asking passengers to go to the airport at least three hours before their flight, noting that "possible disruptions are expected due to the ongoing outage of third-party global information systems".

It adds that “like all airlines today, Wizz Air is facing extreme technical challenges due to the outage of third-party global information systems. Wizz Air customers may experience network disruptions with website and mobile app services being temporarily unavailable."
