According to CYSTAT data released on Monday, Cypriots’ trips to the UK, Russia, Israel and Lebanon in April 2006 have followed an upward trend.
Specifically, Cypriots’ trips to the UK recorded an increase of 46.7% to 11,406 against 7,775 in April 2005, the trips to Russia surged 33.8% to 3,743 against 2,797 in the corresponding month of 2005, the trips to Israel showed an increase of 70.4% and those to Lebanon have redoubled.
Trips to Greece drop
On the other hand, the trips to Greece have recorded a slight drop of 1.8%, while the Cypriots’ trips to Egypt slumped 49.3%.
Total trips at +5.7%
According to the Statistics’ Service, total Cypriots’ trips in April recorded an increase of 5.7% to 81,206 against 76,841 in the corresponding month of 2005.
51.2% traveled for leisure, 25.2% for studies, 20.3% for professional purposes and 3.3% for other reasons.
Of the total travelers, 52.7% were women and 47.3% were men.
