According to CYSTAT data released on Tuesday, the number of Cypriots traveled abroad in January-February 2005 recorded an increase of 7.4% to 105 thousand against 97.8 thousand in the corresponding period of 2004. In February, the number of travelers remained unchanged at 49.8 thousand, despite an impressive increase by 15% in January.
Most popular destination is Greece with 22 thousand Cypriots (+13.2%), followed by the United Kingdom with 6.8 thousand (-5%) and Syria with 1.7 thousand (-44.3%). 55.9% of Cypriots travel for leisure, 31.1% for professional purposes and 10.5% is students.
