According to CYSTAT data released on Friday, Cypriots’ trips abroad in October dropped 2.3% to 70 thousand against 72 thousand in October 2004. In September, they had dropped by 1.1%.
In January-October 2005, the Cypriots’ trips abroad recorded an increase of 6.5% to 797 thousand against 749 thousand in the corresponding period of 2004.
Trips to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Greece recorded a drop of 58.2%, 48.7%, 40.4% and 2.9% respectively.
It is worth noting that 60.5% of the Cypriots travel abroad for leisure, 30% for professional reasons and 6.7% for studies. In October, women travelers outnumbered men (52.8% against 47.2%).
