Most Cypriots chose not to travel after the air tragedy of August 14, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister, Giorgos Lillikas stated on Friday at his departure to Thessaloniki, where he will attend the 70th Thessaloniki Fair.
Mr. Lillikas said that Cypriots did not travel in August since almost all Cypriot families had a relative or friend among the victims of the tragedy.
Invited to comment on the latest CTO data concerning the repercussions on tourism from the tragedy, the Minister said that Cypriots were definitely not in the mood to travel.
During his stay in Thessaloniki, Mr. Lillikas will have a meeting with the Greek Development Minister, Demetris Sioufas to discuss bilateral and cooperation issues within the EU frameworks.
The Minister also said that the talks with the Development Minister and the Athens and Thessaloniki Chambers will focus on the promotion of a seminar, which aims to bring closer Cypriot and Greek businessmen that have businesses in the Middle East and the Balkans respectively “so as to develop cooperation and open the doors to each other”.
