The Cypriot mission, which went to Greece this morning to assist in the effort to extinguish the fire, is operating on an active front in the area of "Frangos Quarries" in Parnitha.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fire Service spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, said that the Cypriot mission was initially divided into two groups, consisting of all three state agencies and operated with personal firefighting equipment in two different areas of Parnitha.
"At the moment the mission has been regrouped and is on an active front in the area of "Frangos Quarries" in Parnitha. They are supported by a team of forest rangers from Athens and Crete. Slovak firefighters are operating there with motorised equipment. Several aerial means are also operating. There is a strong wind blowing in the area," Kettis concluded.
