Despite the fact that we are already in mid October, CTO Chairman, Panos Egglezos appeared optimistic that Cyprus will cover the lost ground in tourist arrivals. In his statements to StockWatch, Mr. Egglezos said that the drop of 2.3% in tourist arrivals will be eliminated and CTO works hard in promoting Cyprus as tourist destination abroad. “The flights to Cyprus are fully booked until the end of the year. Now there are no external factors that will affect the tourist arrivals, such as the war in Lebanon and there are several low-budget companies making flights to Cyprus. British Air Connect, for example, is already making flights from Manchester to Cyprus with £50 only”, he stated.

Mr. Egglezos also said that at the World Tourist Fair to take place on November 6 in London, a CTO representation will sign agreements with other low-budget air companies. “These agreements will contribute to the increase in tourist arrivals. We are close to reach an agreement with Easy Jet and Ryan Air”, he added.
Mr. Egglezos also referred to the 1st International Religious Tourism Conference to take place in Cyprus on October 19-21. “The conference is organized by the CTO and the World Tourism Organization and will be attended by eminent personalities from the sector of church, tourism and travel”, he concluded.
