The efforts of the Cyprus Tourism Organization to reach an agreement with foreign air companies so as to include Cyprus in their flights seem to be fruitful. Speaking to StockWatch, CTO Chairman, Panos Egglezos said that the CTO is close to an agreement with the British low-budget air company Jet 2 based in Northern England to launch flights to Cyprus. “We also have contacts with Ryan Air and Easy Jet, as well as British Airways in order to increase its direct flights to Cyprus. We are optimistic that those efforts will contribute to the increase in tourist arrivals”, he said.

As for the opening of casinos in the free areas, Mr. Egglezos referred to the study on the legal framework that will govern the casinos on the island, which is still in progress. “The studies on the socio-economic repercussions from the opening of casinos in Cyprus have been completed and have showed that casinos are necessary for the country. Following the completion of the study on the legal framework, the three studies will be assessed and we will have talks with the Council of Ministers and the political parties to decide on the number of the casinos”, he concluded.
