German tour operator, F.T.I will send more German tourists to Cyprus, a CTO announcement reported on Tuesday. At the meeting between the CTO Chairman, Fotis Fotiou and the F.T.I Chairman in Germany, the two parties agreed to expand the existing agreement so that the tour operator sends 30 thousands tourists during winter season and not 15 thousand.

According to the announcement, the two parties also agreed that the number of elderly tourists in winter 2006 reach 40 – 45 thousand.

“This agreement is fairly significant since it will tackle seasonality during winter. The city of Larnaca and free Famagusta will be boosted significantly, as the majority of tourists have selected the two regions to spend their winter holidays”, the announcement reported.

“The German market is one of the most important markets for Cyprus, the second largest after the British with good prospects for 2005. We will work hard to gain a larger market share”, Mr. Fotiou said.

“Mr. Fotiou had contacts with other tour operators as well, which shows that the increase of 25.22% in German tourist arrivals in 2004 will continue in 2005”, the announcement concluded.
