-New three year low for BOC
-Big losses for the Financial Sector
The CSE volume – due to absence of investors’ interest and lack of corporate developments – hit again low levels. The total turnover of the day – being the third lowest since March 29, 1996 – reached CYP 154 thousand and it is only CYP 41 thousand above the lowest volume over a six year period witnessed on the 16th of August 2002(CYP113 thousands).
The general index and FTSE20 – mostly influenced by the Banking sector that suffered losses of 1.5% - dropped to 83.7 points (1% fall) and 322.8 points (1.4%fall) respectively.
The Bank of Cyprus has been the only share of the day, concentrating turnover over CYP 15 thousand. BOC experienced significant losses of 1.7% closing at CYP 1.17, a new three year low, while the Popular Bank - with losses of 0.9% and turnover 7.4% or CYP 11 thousand – closed at CYP 1.07. Similarly, the Hellenic Bank – with marketability 3.1% - accumulated losses of 1.4% as well falling to 69 cents. The Bank of Cyprus warrants – with losses of 0.6% and 4.9% of the total turnover – closed at 17.9 cents.
Petrolina – with 6.6% of the total volume – has experienced gains of 0.6% and reached 16.6 cents, while, Hadjiioannou Farm and A. Panayides have remained unchanged closing at 9.3 cents (turnover 6.8%) and 47 cents (turnover 4.4%) respectively.
The financial sector has accumulated considerable losses today. Specifically, Marketrends - with losses of 7.3% and marketability 1.7% – fell to 3.8 cents, while Prochoice - with losses of 6.1% and marketability 0.9% - closed at 7.7 cents. Finally, Sharelink (turnover 1.9%)experienced losses of 5.1% and fell to 7.5 cents.
Overall, 22 securities went up, 40 fell and 27 remained stable.
