According to CYSTAT, the Consumer Price Index for July 2001 decreased by 2,13 units or 1,96% to 106,54 units compared to 108,67 in June 2001. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of certain clothing, footwear and furnishing items due to summer sale discounts as well as to reductions in the prices of certain fresh fruit and vegetables.
For the period January-July 2001 the CPI recorded an increase of 1,82% compared to the corresponding period of 2000. The rate of increase of the Index for July 2001 compared to July 2000 was 1,01%.
