The Commission for the Protection of Competition decided recently that the data on fuel trading that it has on its disposal are not sufficient. Therefore, it decided to send a new questionnaire to the 4 oil companies based in Cyprus, demanding by all gas station owners to give their answers.
Assaults to gas stations
Same sources reveal that the CPC will make unexpected assaults to some of the 252 gas stations in Cyprus to ascertain whether the owners answered the questionnaires themselves or had the questionnaires sent to the oil companies.
The new questionnaire
The new questionnaire focuses on the tariff policy and demands answers to questions concerning the frequency of price changing and the criteria used to determine the period that prices will change.
Completion of investigation
The Commission for the Protection of Competition gave a three-week notice to the gas station owners to fill in the questionnaires, which have been sent on December 6. The CPC report is, therefore, expected to be ready in mid January.
