The Council of Ministers proceeded with the appointment of the member of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, the terms of office of which has expired.

According to the CNA, Government Spokesman, Stephanos Stephanou said that “according to law that governments the establishment and the operation of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, the Authority comprises of 3 members and those persons must have experience and knowledge in one of the following three sectors: industry, mechanics, trade, economic and law”.

“The Council of Ministers decided to appoint Giorgos Siammas as Chairman of the Authority, Constantinos Iliopoulos as Vice Chairman and Kypros Kyprianides as member.

Mr. Siammas is a mechanical engineer and has been working in EAC since 1978. Currently, he is the Operating and Production Maintenance Manager of EAC.

Mr. Iliopoulos is a mechanical electrical engineer and has been working in EAC since 1973. From 2006, he is the Executive Support Manager at the Central Office of the Authority.

Mr. Kyprianides is an electrical mechanical engineer and since 2004 he is a member of CERA. He has represented Cyprus in several European councils.
