PwC Cyprus, focused on its commitment to actively contribute to the society, developed a comprehensive corporate social responsibility plan which aims to address various environmental and social issues.
In this context, PwC’s Human Capital department in collaboration with the “Women in PwC” committee organised 2 lectures on the subject of awareness on cervical cancer. The lectures took place on 17 and 19 September 2012 in PwC’s Nicosia and Limassol training centres respectively. During these lectures, 2 obstetricians and gynaecologists, Dr Dinos Mavromoustakis and Dr Marios Liasides, talked about the HPV virus, statistics, consequences and prevention of cervical cancer.
The 80 colleagues who attended the lectures, found the information provided very interesting and useful. PwC aims to continue providing its people with training programmes and informative seminars of general interest.
In addition, as part of its CSR activities, PwC sponsored the 48-Hour Cyprus Rally charity event, which took place between 5-7 October 2012 and was open to all classic vehicles over 20 years of age.
More specifically, PwC participated in the Rally for the 4th consecutive year and sponsored 5 classic vehicles driven by staff members and friends of PwC.
This event was organised by the Cyprus Federation of Classic Vehicles and the Bank of Cyprus, in an effort to raise funds for the Cyprus Anticancer Society.
Finally, members of the organisation took part in the “Let's Do it Cyprus” campaign which took place on Saturday, 29 September 2012 throughout Cyprus. PwC professionals actively participated in cleaning a beach in Limassol and a park in Nicosia. «Let's Do it Cyprus», which aims at cleaning the island’s countryside with the support of volunteers in a single day, is part of the international “Let’sDoItWorld!” campaign which has been successfully implemented in 91 countries to date.
