There are unreasonable price hikes in basic goods, reveals a study by the Cyprus Consumers Association.

People familiar with the study told StockWatch that the research covered 24 supermarkets -- twelve in Nicosia and twelve in Limassol. The research findings are expected to come out before the end of the week, after the data evaluation carried out by a group of expert technocrats.

The research found significant price hikes in 10 necessities, including oil, dairies (cheese, halloumi, milk), meat, chicken, legumes and pasta.

The Consumers Association will give out leaflets, emphasizing consumers’ rights in covering basic needs, avoiding dangerous products, purchasing products in competitive prices and asking for compensation in case of defective products.
